
How soon can I see results?
Because the larvicide must be spread first, the In2Care® Mosquito Trap will take roughly 2 weeks to provide results. The primary effect is a decrease in the following generation of mosquitoes.
I see live larvae in the Trap – is it normal?
It is a sign that the trap is effective when there are several live larvae within. Only when mosquito larvae are about to pupate do the larvicide in the trap water kill them. As a result, the pupae die, and no biting adults may emerge. The deceased pupae will be consumed by the larvae and frequently go unnoticed. The immature larvae are not killed by the larvicide, which has the advantage that they will generate alluring odours and draw even more mosquitoes that lay eggs to the trap. It is very important to not miss the monthly servicing to ensure 24/7 protection from mosquitoes.
Why do I still see mosquitoes?
- Please be aware that the In2Care Trap has a delayed impact, since mosquitoes will die within 8 to 10 days, disseminate the growth regulator, and stop the generation of new mosquitoes. On the plus side, the fungal infection also lowers the mosquito’s ability to eat, so there will be considerably less biting even if you may still observe flying mosquitoes.
- If only a small area is treated, mosquitoes may enter from nearby untreated places. An initial barrier treatment e.g., spraying and misting should be added since Aedes mosquitoes may fly beyond 200 yards and do not recognise boundaries.
- Another explanation might be a mosquito proliferation following heavy rainfall. Aedes eggs can lay latent for months before hatching in newly developed clean water puddles after rain. In2Care Traps can manage this population expansion, but because of their delayed impact, it may take 1 to 2 weeks to lower the biting adults again. A one-time pesticide application e.g., larviciding and fogging may be required.
Will you see mosquitoes being trapped?
This In2Care Mosquito Trap does not physically trap mosquitoes. It serves as a relay station which is why it is also known as the In2Care Mosquito Station. Mosquitoes will lay their eggs within the trap, contaminating them with larvicide and fungus while they settle on the powdered gauze. They will fly out of the trap and disseminate the larvicide that adheres to their bodies to nearby breeding locations when laying more eggs. After a few days, the fungus will kill the mosquitoes, and the larvicide will kill all the larvas in the bucket.
How long does it take for contaminated mosquitoes to larvicide the surrounding area?
Duration: Typically 5 to 10 days after contamination.
During this time, the female mosquitoes will:
Visit multiple breeding sites (usually 3–10+ places) to lay eggs.
Deposit pyriproxyfen into each of these sites via “autodissemination.”
Why 5–10 days?
After visiting the station, the mosquito is infected with the fungus, which kills her in about 7–10 days.
Before dying, she behaves normally — flying, mating, and seeking places to lay eggs.
Most of the larviciding activity happens in the first 3–5 days, with residual spreading up to day 10.
Will it control other types of mosquitoes?
The In2Care Mosquito Trap is intended for the reduction of day-biting and container-breeding Aedes aegypti and albopictus mosquitos, which are carriers of the Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika viruses. Some Culex mosquitos, such as quinquefasciatus, will be drawn and effected by the Trap. The propagation effect is unique to the Aedes mosquito, which lays its eggs in various locations.
How long can the yeast tablets provide the attractive odour to lure mosquitoes?

For at least two weeks, the yeast will provide an alluring organic odour that will attract Aedes mosquitoes that lay eggs. The yeast will dissolve swiftly in water. The yeast starts the mosquito attraction of the trap. The yeast tablets are typically no longer visible in the Trap water after two weeks because the larvae that emerge from eggs deposited within the Trap eat the yeast. At that point, the smell of live larvae will take over and act as the finest potential bait for Aedes mosquitoes that lay eggs.
I have children and pets. Does it need to be anchored?
Using ground pegs to secure the Trap into the ground will increase stability. However, a persistent pet or a mischievous youngster might get into the trap or knock it over, so precautions would be necessary to prevent this.
How many In2Care Traps are needed per house?

400 square metres of outdoor space may be protected by a single In2Care mosquito trap. In areas where mosquitoes are prone to rest outside (especially in shady vegetation), we advise placing them there. You can omit open, light surface regions from your calculations. Lower Trap densities can be used for sites bigger than 20,000 square metres since there will be more of a mass impact there. 25 traps per 10,000 square metres is the maximum allowed.
Can I use the product indoors?
The In2Care mosquito trap (or station) is NEA approved for outdoor use only.
It is not a pleasant sight to think of mosquitoes coming inside our home to deposit their eggs. You run the risk of being the target of their blood feast as well.
Is it necessary to replace all the water from the Trap every month?
If the old water no longer looks clear, it must be disposed of. Because Aedes mosquitoes prefer relatively clean water, preserving part or all the dirty water will diminish its efficacy. By discarding the dirty water, it will also get rid of other impurities like grass and leaves and other things that can block the overflow openings in case of a really heavy rain.
How long can the Trap last without servicing?
It is advised that the water in the Trap be replenished together with the fresh filling every 4 weeks. The Trap is built such that rainfall fills it automatically between refills. During dry seasons, however, it may be required to add water every 2 to 3 weeks. This may be accomplished without removing the lid by carefully putting water on top of it.
Is the product still effective when the powdered gauze has got wet?
If less than 30% of the gauze is wet, the Trap can still function well. According to observations, egg-laying Aedes frequently travel on both sides of the gauze before settling to lay eggs, therefore they will most likely take up powder from the dry sections.
Replace it with a fresh gauze strip from a new refill sachet if most of the gauze has become soggy and powder removed. Only the Pyriproxyfen (PPF) distribution may have been restricted in such instances. The active ingredients in the water will still kill all mosquito larvae within the trap.
Do sprinklers compromise the efficacy of the In2Care Mosquito Trap?
Sprinklers often provide no problems because they help to maintain the In2Care trap’s ideal water level. The effectiveness of the trap may be decreased if sprinklers are directed directly at the aperture via which the mosquitoes enter because this can get the netting inside the trap wet. Otherwise, there is no problem with vertical rainfall or sprinkler water entering the trap.
Are the ingredients organic?
- Mosquito larvicide (Pyriproxyfen (PPF)): While not organic, PPF is an NEA-registered and WHO-approved juvenile hormone analogue; a chemical that inhibits the mosquito’s growth hormone and stops larvae from developing into adult mosquitoes.
- Mosquito adulticide (Beauveria bassiana): Yes, the Fungus spores are biological entomopathogen that solely kills insects.
Is the In2Care Mosquito Trap harmful to bees or butterflies?
The In2Care Trap attracts container-breeding mosquitoes but not helpful insects such as bees or butterflies. This renders it innocuous to bees and other useful insects.
Furthermore, the active ingredients will essentially be spread only to other breeding sites, preventing any chemicals from being unnecessarily spread in the environment. This is due to the exploitation of mosquito behaviour, in which they do not lay all their eggs in one location but instead choose to oviposit eggs in several different sites.
How large a pool of water can a mosquito treat with pyriproxyfen?
At levels of a few parts per billion, pyriproxyfen is already functional. We know from laboratory tests that a single mosquito may efficiently treat water bodies of 5 litres and kill all larvae in development. There will eventually be a build-up of pyriproxyfen in the field from several affected mosquitoes. Since Aedes choose breeding locations with larvae, several mosquitoes will frequent the same breeding location, resulting in an adequate accumulation of pyriproxyfen. We discovered through field research in the Caribbean that the cumulative effect of several contaminated mosquitoes allowed even huge rain barrels of 37 litres to be adequately treated.
Will the rainy season dilute the active ingredients and reduce efficacy?
Rain will not reduce the In2Care Trap efficacy. Pyriproxyfen (PPF) is still good at doses as low as 10 ppb. The results reveal that it is still effective even at concentrations that are 2000 times lower.
We also propose setting the traps in shady, vegetated areas where mosquitoes tend to rest and there is no chance of severe rain.

Will active ingredients in In2Mix harm non-target insects, animals, or people?
The In2Care Trap’s active ingredients are not perilous to birds or mammals. The biological fungus (B. bassiana) used in the trap is particularly deadly only to insects. The larvicide (PPF), which particularly targets mosquito larvae, has been given WHO approval for use in drinking water (provided the dosage does not exceed 0.01 mg/l). This product is essentially non-toxic at low quantities. In addition, the black container itself attracts mosquitoes rather than useful insects.
What about fish such as in fishponds? Will the pesticide harm them?
In excessive quantities, the insect growth regulator (PPF) can be hazardous to fish. However, mosquitoes are unlikely to transfer enough bioactives to a common pond to kill fish such as koi. The only way such an exposure could occur is if the whole bucket’s contents were poured into the pond. Even so, the risk to fish life is minimal.
Will it get into reservoirs/lakes?
If water or runoff from the In2Care® Mosquito Trap ends up in a reservoir or lake, the active chemicals have no influence on the surrounding animals or vegetation.
Is there any effect on toads or frogs that may enter the bucket?
There is no effect on frogs or toads that leap into the trap, as the bioactives are not toxic to them.
How do we wash the trap when it gets dirty?
We advise against washing the containers with soap or disinfectant since doing so might deter Aedes mosquitoes. Traps can be cleaned using a cloth to remove dirt if they are too unclean. The inside of the pot should not be scrubbed with an abrasive sponge; it should still have a smooth surface. A smooth surface inhibits the ability for mosquitoes to settle or sit there, ensuring that she will instead sit on the coarse gauze and become contaminated by the larvicide and fungus.
Do we still need to keep misting and spraying?

To protect small sites from mosquitoes that fly from neighbouring sites and to eliminate other nuisance mosquito species, it is advised to administer an initial barrier treatment (with bifenthrin or similar pyrethroid) in addition to the In2Care Mosquito Trap. The barrier treatment should only be repeated in high-risk areas, although spraying will not need to be done as frequently as before. Large (> 5-acre) completely treated areas shouldn’t require any additional spraying.
Can I buy the product online or in retail shops?
